Well, Sam’s not a pop star, sporting icon or TV personality but to many young people, Sam’s special.
Because, as a youth worker, Sam provides help and advice and gives young people the chance to make new friends, learn new skills and experience new things. Sam represents all of us involved in Youth Work.
There are thousands of ‘Sams’ out there, working tirelessly for young people in Wales.
At the last count there were 20,000 ‘Sams’ inspiring over 200,000 young people in the Youth Service. But we need more! And that’s where you can help us to recruit the Sams of the future by making the most of our new youth work career pack.
Titled ‘Could you be the next Sam?’, it can be used by youth workers, and those in allied professions, to promote youth work as a career option to young people.
Designed to be utilised within an education setting, the pack can become a vital tool in capturing the energy and enthusiasm of young people and could encourage young people to think about continuing involvement in the Youth Service as an important part of their future.
So please make the most of this valuable resource, and help us to recruit the Sams of the future!
The youth work career pack was produced for the Welsh Assembly Government by the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS) and ProMo Cymru.
